I have had the privilege of presenting guest lectures at colleges, universities, conferences, and festivals across the country; creating interactive experiences that invite participation so that ideas come alive boldly, and discover new possibilities through storytelling.

In this lecture, we discover crafts of, and write our own, taglines, loglines, and elevator pitches.

Improvisation tools for writing with spontaneous curiosity.

In this lecture we explore improvisational techniques to create and add to your writing toolbox. We engage with our art in new ways. Whatever your interaction style, there is laughter, observation, some acting, and writing as explore the spirited fun of spontaneous creativity, together.

DEVISED THEATRE

aka Sudden surprises, blind alleys, improvisation – oh my!

As writers, we embrace our personal experiences, voices, explorations and experimentation to create works that live on the stage and on the page. This lecture introduces collaborative creation, original performances and the imaginative spirit of devised theatre.

What if every great story could be mapped through dramatic situations? This workshop introduces the classic thirty-six situations and shows how writers can apply them to stories, scenes and exercises in generative writing.

In this lecture, we explore elements for crafting professional documents.

What do you show about my characters and plot?

In this interactive lecture, we consider how objects and the world around a character can reveal truth. We discuss how to use the interior and exterior lives of characters, read examples, and explore how detail deepens writing.
